All nine starters hit safely and the Colfax Falcons’ baseball team used a pair of four-run innings to power their way past River City, 9-7, last Friday afternoon in a non-league baseball game played at Quigley Field.

The win for the Falcons squared their season record at 2-2 going into Monday’s home test against Truckee. Game time is set for 4 p.m.

The Falcons will then open Pioneer Valley League play by playing at Foothill on Wednesday (3:30 p.m.) and at James Field in Auburn against Placer on Friday (7 p.m.).

Colfax fell behind 7-5 going into the fifth inning but the hosts used key doubles from Chas Reisinger, Devon Loomis and James Dean to spark a four-run rally that sent the visiting Raiders home with the loss.

Both Reisinger and Dean went 3x4 with a pair of RBIs and a double to pace the Colfax attack. Loomis added two more doubles and a RBI to the offense while Ryan Glazner (2x4), Matt Paskey (2x4), Wes Woodward (1x2) and Dave Campbell all added RBI raps.

Colfax starter James Dean was roughed up by the Raiders early on but relief pitchers Woodward and Glazner came in to halt the River City bats. Woodward allowed just one run in two and one-third frames of work while Glazner threw two shutout innings for the win with three strikeouts.

In the JV game, Colfax notched an 11-8 win.
