Faulkner falls, Colfax girls finish second at Alpine

It was an up and down day for area high school ski teams Monday at Alpine Meadows. Placer skier Julian Faulkner, the top-rated skier in the Central Division II, wiped out coming down the slopes and did not finish as the Hillmen finished with just 87 points, well behind race winner Davis’ 198 points. Colfax finished fourth in the race with a steady performance by Jens Boblitt (16th, 1:15.24), Tommy Irons (18th, 1:16.67) and Brent Johnson (22nd, 1:21.36). On the girls’ side, the Falcons finished second to Davis, 212-196, thanks to a first-place finish by Teagan Santin, who finished with a combined time of 1:06.27. She was followed by teammates Stephanie Scott (1:10.95) in fifth, Nicola Lorang (1:13.39) in ninth and Alysia Laidlaw (1:19.21) in 17th. Placer finished fifth with 102 points and a sixth-place finish from Lanae Rothe (1:11.84).
