FDA should protect public

I write in regard to prior letters complaining about the Food and Drug Administration’s usefulness. The truth is that corporations wield inordinate power in Congress and in state legislatures. It is hard to tell where government ends and corporate America begins; the transition is seamless and overlapping. You don’t want to throw out the baby with the bath water – we need the FDA! But it needs to be protecting us and acting on our behalf – not those of big pharmaceutical companies. We need those protections! If the government were controlled by the voters, all government agencies would function differently. We need laws to prevent the legalized bribery in our current political system. Support campaign finance reform and the use of “clean money” in U.S. elections. George Farmer, Auburn
