Saturday evening (Dec. 5) our community came together to enjoy the Festival of Lights Parade brought to us by the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. This event highlights the holiday season in our community. Mayor Mike Holmes lighted our new Christmas tree in town square thanks to Auburn’s Public Works Department (thank you, Bernie Schroeder) and at 5:30 p.m. the parade floats began their march through town. The air was cold, the floats lighted the evening sky and in the end St. Nick waved a Merry Christmas to us all.  This evening takes our wonderful city and turns it into a Norman Rockwell painting full of small-town charm and warm hearts. None of this would be possible if not for the sponsors of this parade. Even in these difficult economic times they have the heart to donate so the children of our community can truly feel the “light of Christmas.” On behalf of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Festival of Lights Committee and Think Auburn First!, I wish to thank all the volunteers, sponsors, float builders, waving riders and the spectators for making this year’s parade a success.
