Festivals offer many benefits

Ms. (Charlotte) Langston’s Oct. 22 observation on the recently held Loomis Eggplant Festival was right on the mark. Our office had a booth at this year’s festival to support the event and to hand out information/answer questions about Placer County. We had over 455 individuals stop by who wanted information (visitor guides, wine trail maps, brochures on other festivals/events) about all the great attractions and things to do and see in our region. If you attended, you likely experienced the first Loomis chicken race — a huge crowd-pleaser. With strategic marketing, it could even become the next Jumping Frog Jubilee. Events like these are important in attracting visitors and tourists to our area, bringing new revenue into our business districts and communities, through spending in hotels, restaurants, shops and taverns. As studies show that leisure traveler money will then turn over four to five times in a community before it is finally deposited in the bank, a far broader positive economic impact occurs for the hosting community. It’s why our organization supports these events. For additional information on regional events and festivals see: www.visitplacer.com.
