No injuries, damage estimated to be at least $150,000
Flames engulfed a Third Street home at noon on Sunday, resulting in $150,000 in damage. No one was injured in the fire, according to Lincoln Fire Chief Dave Whitt, and as of 3 p.m., the cause of the fire is unknown. The fire was noticed by firefighters driving past the home around 12:05 p.m., according to Lincoln Fire Chief Dave Whitt. “We think the fire started in the back of the house and went into the front of the house,” Whitt said. “We don’t know if it started inside or outside.” Whitt described the house as “a complete loss,” and the estimated damage could climb higher than $150,000. Firefighters were able to stop the spread of the fire to another home, but not before it caused an estimated $25,000 in damage, Whitt said.
