Fire fee just a lot of hooey

Everybody I know agrees with Mrs. Louis Muller (“Displeased at being ‘chosen’ for fee,” Reader Input, Oct. 5). We were shocked to receive the “Be Prepared” notification from the State of California last week regarding the new $150 fee for California Department of Forestry fire protection services. Then, two days later, it showed up in the mail again. It’s not enough to waste taxpayer money with one mailing. They had to double it. We live in a subdivision in North Auburn. There are no dried grass fields near us. There is no forest around us. Who came up with this stupid idea of asking us pay a new $150 fee for fire protection when we have all the fire protection that we need? We’re not going to pay this phony fund raiser.
