The Foothills Motel and former Sam’s Hofbrau restaurant buildings in Auburn will go on the auction block Thursday in Roseville. The trustee sale, filed by Kimberly-Oregon Realty with Sonoma National Bank as beneficiary, will be held at 10 a.m. at the Roseville City Hall annex on Vernon Street. Unpaid balance on the properties, at 13431 and 13445 Bowman Road, is listed as $760,042.77, according to a legal notice filed in the Journal. Opening bid is set at $759,396.22, according to priorityposting.com. The Sam’s Hofbrau building has been vacant since the mid 1990s but the Foothills Motel, built in the 1940s, is still in operation An attempt in February to auction the buildings, along with the neighboring Foothills Bowl and two vacant properties, did not find a bidder. According to previous Journal reporting, the February auction was to settle a $4.62 million debt Kimberly Oregon owed to Cupertino Capital of Los Gatos. The Sam’s Hofbrau building has been vacant since the eatery closed in the mid-1990s. There has been some discussion of refurbishing it for a Black Bear Diner franchise. However, the Journal was unable to confirm those plans. Foothills Bowl is not included in the Roseville auction, according to priorityposting.com.
