Foresthill rallies past Forest Lake

John McCann scattered six hits in seven innings and a balanced Foresthill High offense led the Wildfires past Forest Lake Christian 8-5 Friday on the diamond at Foresthill.
McCann struck out six and walked three to get the win, holding off a late rally by the Falcons.
Mike Mangone had two hits, including a double, while Dave Whitsett knocked in two runs fo rthe Wildfires. Ian Sykes and Chase Pack both had RBIs and Travis Green ewas 1-for-3 at the plate.
Bear River 13, Colfax 1 at Colfax — The Bruins rolled to 2-0 in the PVL as their bats erupted against the rival Falcons.
Cole White was 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and Brandon Fry had a solo homer and three RBIs to pace Bear River (6-3 overall). Morgan Juric finished 4-for-5 while Jordan Beskeen was 2-f0r-3 and knocked in three runs. Michael Lucas had two RBIs as the Bruins pounded out 16 hits.
Placer, Mesa Verde (suspended) — The game at James Field was halted in the bottom of the second inning after a Mesa Verde player was life-flighted to the hospital with a serious head injury.
The player remained in the intensive care unit Saturday after he was accidentally struck in the head with a bat during the game. The contest will be resumed at a later date.
