God shed his grace on us

We went to a patriotic concert held at the library. It was held on the weekend before the Fourth of July, and it was a treat to hear the many songs that truly made us proud to be Americans. They reminded us of all that we have to be thankful for. We heard a beautiful rendition of “Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “America the Beautiful.” How proudly we stood as our national anthem, “Star Spangled Banner,” was so beautifully sung. “Stars and Stripes Forever” was another one of many others. We are so thankful to God for our freedom, and so thankful for our armed forces for being out there to fight for this freedom that we so many times take for granted. The following gives us some “food for thought.” With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, floods, several thunderstorms tearing up our country, and many parts of the world, is this the time to take God out of our Pledge of Allegiance? We are also going through many storms of life, but we can be so thankful that God is still our shield and our protector. God shed his grace on us ... let’s remember that this Fourth of July and throughout the year. ELLY DERR, Auburn
