Golden Eagles finish first half of SFL'strong

Morgan Lees filled the stat sheet with 13 kills, 18 digs, 10 points served and three aces Tuesday night to pace the Del Oro High volleyball past Woodcreek 25-19, 20-25, 25-14, 25-21 in Roseville.
Stephanie Solich added nine kills and Tatum Jungsten added seven, along with 13-for-14 serving. Megan Hentschke was outstanding in the back row with 20 digs and she added an ace. Amy Heyn passed out 34 assists as the Golden Eagles improved to 4-1 in the Sierra Foothill League.
The Golden Eagles will host Rocklin next Tuesday to begin the second half of SFL play.
Bear River 3, Placer 1 at Lake of the Pines — The Bruins jumped into the top spot in the Pioneer Valley League Monday night with a spirited 24-26, 25-17, 25-18, 26-24 win over the Hillgals.
Senior Katie Tomkiewicz and junior Sara Schell had 17 kills apiece as the Bruins stunned the three-time defending league champs. Kirsten Pereira added seven kills, Hannah Mosman served up five aces and Kaya Johnson dished out 41 assists for Bear River (3-0 PVL, 17-4 overall).
Placer was plagued by service errors and other miscues, according to coach Jennifer Wright. Kirstin Schauble led the visitors with nine kills and 18 assists. Lauren Collins chipped in with seven kills and Michaela Leonard added 19 assists.
The Hillgals fell to 2-1 in the PVL.
Colfax 3, Center 0 at Colfax— The Falcons cruised past the Cougars Monday to set up a big match at home against Bear River today. Colfax beat Center 25-15, 25-13, 25-9.
The Falcons improved to 2-1 in the PVL.
