Goodwin is irreplaceable

I am immensely disappointed in the Journal in the article “Jaffe named Auburn Symphony conductor” (Journal, June 6), for giving the impression that he is replacing the irreplaceable Michael Goodwin.
Those of us who attended orchestral concerts under that great man all know that no conductor of any quality could ever replace such a great musician and inspiring soul as he — much less Peter Jaffe.
Pete Nowlen would have been the ideal choice for our orchestra, but even he could never be a replacement for Michael Goodwin.
In any event, I am not looking forward to the upcoming Auburn Symphony Orchestra concerts with this conductor.
