Government is not the answer

As an anarchist activist, I understand that the term “anarchy” conjures up many unsettling emotions. The vast majority of us, myself included, were raised under the assumption that anarchy is the same as chaos. It is not, and I would like to help define for you what anarchism means. Anarchism is the theory or doctrine that all forms of government are oppressive and undesirable and should be abolished. As an individual I have always been a truth seeker, following where it may. For many, the truth is a rabbit hole they are unwilling to go down. This is because the truth is often depressing. The truth is that America is in really bad shape. The truth is that things are going to get a lot worse before they get better. And the truth is that there exists no political solution to our problems. This is because the only legitimate interactions between and among people are those freely assented to by all parties concerned. Government is inherently incompatible with this universal truth because it functions solely on the initiation or threat, of violence. Government cannot protect peace, prosperity, or freedom if it forces us to relinquish them to the state. Seth King, Bowman
