Government sickens reader

I am sickened with our government. If I had a daughter that abused her credit card privilege by overspending in the thousands, I certainly wouldn’t reward her with a higher debit limit. A father is in charge of his house and makes hard but wise decisions. Sometimes dinner out, fancy vacations and high-priced clothes are not included in the budget but the basic necessities are provided. The father is not trying to get reelected or win a popularity contest; he is keeping the ship afloat. I don’t think elected officials are capable of producing a balanced budget. They are too afraid of being unpopular and losing the next election. Economical, sensible moms and dads could fix the budget and congress could pass it with no blame. JOYCE BENNETT, Greenwood
