Hearts open wide for Haiti

-A +A
Children at the Auburn Recreation District’s Discovery Club after-school program recently held a drive to collect personal hygiene items to send to orphanages in Haiti.  More than 800 items such as soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand sanitizer, children’s vitamins and baby wipes were collected by parents, children and staff at Skyridge, Auburn Elementary, Placer Hills and Newcastle Discovery Clubs. Children also made cards and pictures to send to the orphanage. The items were sent with “New Hope for Haiti,” a local group that works in conjunction with the Gold Country Chaplaincy.
