The upcoming week is going to be one packed with pomp and circumstance as area schools bid their high-school seniors adieu. Commencement ceremonies for area high schools begin Thursday and continue into the weekend. It’s sure to be a special, sentimental few days for students and staff. “Two of the best days of my life were the days my daughters graduated from high school,” said Bart O’Brien, Placer Union High School District superintendent. “There’s just some magical thing about watching students complete 13 years of education … it’s just always really gratifying to watch that.” O’Brien, who retires at the end of June, plans to attend Colfax High School’s graduation Saturday, marking the 40th anniversary of his graduation from the school. Placer Union’s districtwide Class of 2009 includes hundreds of graduates — at last count, according to administration and staff, Placer High has 304 graduates, Colfax High has 220 graduates, Del Oro High has 371 graduates, and Foresthill and Chana High each have 54 graduates. “Some really stellar young people will be leaving us,” O’Brien said. David Wickstrom, Forest Lake Christian School’s high school principal, shared a similar sentiment. Forest Lake’s class of 2009 is 67 seniors strong. “I think for a school, you are delighted with the end result, the product of the mentoring and input you’ve been a part of,” Wickstrom said. “It’s wonderful to see them grow and mature, and it’s exciting to see the product of your hard work. We just are really excited to see the next step for them, where they go.” __________ Class of 2009 commencement ceremonies Placer High School (275 Orange St., Auburn) 9 a.m. Saturday, June 6 Le Febvre Stadium, Placer High School Colfax High School (24995 Ben Taylor Road, Colfax) 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6 Robert O.
