The Lady Hillmen made quick work of No. 7 Dixon.

Freshman Samantha Slade scored two goals and Olivia Holmes headed in a corner kick, as second-seeded Placer silenced the Rams 5-0 Thursday in a Sac-Joaquin Section Div. IV playoff opener at LeFebvre Stadium.

Placer will host No. 3 Vista del Lago, a 3-1 winner over No. 6 Livingston, Wednesday in Auburn. Kickoff time has yet to be announced. The winner will advance to the section title match.

Against Dixon, the Lady Hillmen scored early and often — in the first half, that is.

Placer jumped out to a 2-0 lead after just eight minutes of play, opening the scoring in the fourth minute behind Sabrina Viscuso’s 16th goal of the year.

Slade struck in the eighth minute and then again in the 17th off a Viscuso assist for her 11th and 12 goals of the season.

Natalie Rowland’s tally in the 25th minute, her first in 2013, made it a 4-0 score in favor of Placer.

The Lady Hillmen notched their fifth goal of the first half and final of the game in the 31st minute, when Adriana Hinshaw’s corner kick connected with Holmes’ head to finish off a beautifully executed play.

“It’s a great way to start playoffs. We haven’t done that in a long time,” said forward Macaylea Mitchell, who had two assists on the day, of the team jumping out to an early lead. “It feels good."

Tiffany Harben also had a helper for the Lady Hillmen, who improved to 11-9-1 on the season.

Goalkeeper Jenelle Pickard pitched a shutout against Dixon (12-10-1), which didn’t manage a shot on goal until the early stages of the second half.

“We’ve been working really hard at practice to play with feet and play possession and just play calm,” said defender Brittany Bartle. “It worked out.”

Forest Lake Christian 1, Trinity Prep 0 - The No. 5 Falcons won their quarterfinal match, and will play at Div. VII top seed Bradshaw Christian Wednesday. Bradshaw Christian beat Elliot Christian 7-0.

Golden Sierra 4, Gustine 1 - The No. 4 Grizzlies won their Div. VI quarterfinal match, and will play the winner of No. 1 Amador vs. No. 8 Buckingham Charter on Wednesday.
