By Journal Sports Staff The Placer High volleyball team had little trouble with rival Bear River on Wednesday as the Hillgals improved to 3-0 in the Pioneer Valley League. Seniors Colleen Stafford and Kelsey Lardner combined for 12 kills, seven aces and 35 assists to lead Placer (6-2 overall). Stafford served up a match-high seven aces while Lardner dished out 21 assists. Senior Julia Dorsey had another excellent effort with eight kills. Bear River’s junior varsity swept past Placer while the Placer freshmen won in three. Del Oro 3, Woodcreek 0 at Roseville — The Golden Eagles tuned up for a showdown with Nevada Union by sweeping the Timberwolves 25-13, 25-13, 25-18. Junior Belle Obert pounded 13 kills and added 10 digs to pace Del Oro (3-0 Sierra Foothill League, 19-2 overall). Emily Mattevi added eight kills, Aly Duffin had six kills and five blocks and Hannah Oros chipped in with five kills. Bailey Humes dished out 18 assists and served up 14 points. Kate Kessler led the defense with 19 digs. In junior varsity action, Del Oro won 25-20, 25-18 to improve to 3-0 in SFL play. The Del Oro frosh won 25-16, 25-18 to go to 1-2 in the PVL.
