Hillmen edge Lincoln; Del Oro fires 186

Sophomore Rob Schauble fired a 1-over-par 37 Tuesday at Auburn Country Club to lead the Placer High golf team past Lincoln. The Hillmen got a 38 from Ryan Holden and a 39 from Matt Lunsford to edge Lincoln 203-209. Joseph Greenlee added a 44 and freshman Nathan Bonner helped out with a 45 in his first match at the varsity level. Placer finished the Pioneer Valley League schedule at 7-5 and will play in the PVL’s second tournament next Monday. Forest Lake 215, Victory Christian 287 at Haggin Oaks — The Falcons continued their march toward a Central Valley Christian League title, led by medallists Austin Rosene and Johnny Umamoto, who both s hot 3-over-par 39s. Maxx Mamula added a 43, Travis Stokes fired a 44 and Colby Shaules carded a 50 for Forest Lake (9-0 CVCL). The Falcons will host Sacramento Waldorf Thursday at DarkHorse. Del Oro 186, Oakmont 212 at Woodcreek — The Golden Eagles shot the lowest round in coach Hal Steinbeck’s 10 years as coach, led by a sensational 3-under-par 33 from freshman Austin Smotherman. Scott McKinney added a 37 and Evan Smith shot a 38. Josh Vaughn and Eric Ash both finished with 39s for Del Oro, which is tied for second in the Sierra Foothill League.
