By: Journal Sports Staff
The Placer High boys golf team posted its best score of the season on Thursday. Unfortunately for the Hillmen, so did El Dorado. The Cougars had three players shoot under 40 over nine holes to edge Placer 201-202 in a Pioneer Valley League dual at Auburn Country Club. “It was a good match, one you hate to lose,” Placer coach Greg French said. Senior Kevin Morgan led Placer’s golfers with a nine-hole score of 39. Senior Matt Lunsford and junior Joseph Greenlee each shot 40s for the Hillmen (5-4 PVL). Forest Lake Christian def. Foresthill at Black Oak — Maxx Mamula and Austin Rosene each shot 41s to lead five Forest Lake seniors with nine-hole scores below 50 as the Falcons improved to 7-0 in the Central Valley Christian League. The match was officially scored as a forfeit for Foresthill because the Wildfires only have three players. Lincoln 198, Bear River 206 at Lincoln Hills — Bruins senior Taylor Daniels shot a 1-over 37 over nine holes, but was outdone by Zebras freshman Kenny Bills, who shot a 1-under 35 as Lincoln defeated Bear River (4-6 PVL). Anthony Ertoala fired a 41 for Bear River. Fellow junior Brennan Southworth posted a 42, while senior Hayden Lavelle and freshman David Jackson each shot 43s.
