Placer High School students helped raise some dough for their Hillmen baseball program Sunday afternoon at Strings Italian Cafe in Auburn.

Junior varsity players, such as Jack Woods, Lane Bennet, Nick Lawicka, Corey Yunk and Gavin Oyer, could seen holding signs to encourage cars passing by the restaurant at  2501 Bell Road to stop by.

On the day, the Hillmen raised $200 in donations. Additionally, the cafe is pitching in with 15 percent of Sunday afternoon's sales going to the baseball program.

"Kristina Bennet (Lane's mother) is the one that really put it all together and my guys love doing stuff like this," said JV coach Eddie Vanderdoes. "They commit to all things Placer baseball. They're a great group of young men."

The cafe showed great support in hosting the team, Vanderdoes added.
