The Placer High wrestling team will be looking for redemption on Saturday after a fourth straight Pioneer Valley League title was put in jeopardy earlier this week. The Hillmen lost 37-31 to Lincoln – their first setback in PVL play in three seasons. The Zebras improved to 3-0 in the PVL while Placer fell to 2-1. Each team has two matches remaining in league action. Placer is back on the mat at Earl Crabbe Gym on Saturday as it hosts the annual Placer Duals. Fifteen teams will participate in the tournament, which is a team event. Among the tough squads on hand will be Chico, Nevada Union, Paradise, Reno, Ponderosa, Rocklin and Woodcreek. Action begins at 9 a.m. Saturday with finals taking place around 5:30 p.m. Placer fell to Lincoln despite several strong performances. Andrew Naleway had a pin at 125 pounds while Gama Gomez pulled out a decision at 130. Joe Thornton won a major decision at 140 and Mark Looney added a pin at 152. Steven Cox pinned his opponent at 171 and Jon Medina also had a pin at heavyweight.
