Hillmen romp to Division III golf title

The Placer High golf team made history in a resounding manner Monday afternoon at Yolo Fliers Golf Club in Woodland. The Hillmen played on a different level than the rest of the field on their way to winning the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III championship. Placer shot 379 as a team and won the eight-team tournament by 33 strokes. Cody Riecks led the balanced Hillmen. He finished at 3-over-par 74 to place fourth individually. Daniel Gregg, Clark Pietromonico and Matthew Potter all fired 75 for Placer. Austin Childress added an 80. Placer advanced to next Monday?s Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Tournament at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton. Colfax shot 419 to place fourth as a team. Zak Wibberley led the Falcons with a 77. Patrick Cabrera added an 80, Jay Lynch had an 84, Chris Bauer shot 85, and Jordan Balser tossed in an 87 in Colfax?s finale. Competing as individual qualifiers, Bear River?s Jake DePass finished with an 81 while Cory Langseth had an 85 and Aubrey Harwell carded an 86.
