Hillmen storm back at Lincoln

The Placer High boys wiped out an eight-point deficit with three minutes to go at Lincoln High Thursday night, and they may have secured a playoff berth in the process.
Senior Cody Riggs poured in 28 points, including a go-ahead jump shot with 16 seconds left as the Hillmen beat Lincoln 67-64.
Peter Kean closed out a solid 13-point night with two free throws with three seconds left to ice the win. Isaiah Pineiro finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Senior Cedric King sparked the Hillmen’s late comeback with his defense as he finished with four steals. Michael McNamara added six rebounds and four steals.
Placer improved to 4-5 in the Pioneer Valley League heading into Tuesday’s regular season finale against Foothill.
The Hillmen were No. 15 in this week’s Sac-Joaquin Section Division III power ratings and the top 16 teams will make the postseason.

Colfax 58, Bear River 50 at Lake of the Pines — The Falcons broke through for a long-awaited Pioneer Valley League win Thursday night, storming past the rival Bruins with a 22-11 run in the fourth quarter.
Junior Will Buell scored a game-high 22 points and Matt Larsen added 16 as Colfax improved to 1-8 in the PVL.
Bear River fell to 4-5 despite 18 points from Justin Beskeen and 16 from Brandon Wooner.
