The hit-and-run crimes of Anna Berset (Folsom woman accused of killing a Granite Bay teen in June 2007) reinforce my belief that passengers of offending cars in hit and run crimes must be made to call in the incident and report it. Every year 1,000 innocent pedestrians are killed by such people. About 18,000 were left to die but somehow survived. Until we make passengers of such vehicles responsible for the most basic civic and moral act, we will continue to see needless people die. Rather than putting up crosses and flowers demand that your state changes the current laws. Joseph Dupont Towanda, Pa.
