Marin earns bachelor’s degree San Diego State University School of Engineering has announced the graduation of Auburn resident Vanessa Ann Marin as a bachelor of science civil engineering degree recipient. Marin, an alumnus of St. Joseph Parish School in Auburn and a 2004 graduate from Bear River High School was a dean’s list student at San Diego State University and successfully completed a semester of international engineering studies at the prestigious University of Technology in Sydney, Australia. She is currently employed by the City of San Diego as a management intern in the storm water management division, awaiting acceptance to a graduate school, pursuing an MBA degree. Rowland finishes basic training Army Spec. Eric A. Rowland has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises. Rowland earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Randy and Teri Rowland of Auburn. The specialist received a bachelor’s degree in 2009 from the University of the Pacific, Stockton. Laporte earns business degree Robert Alan Laporte of Foresthill has earned a Bachelor of Science in business from Excelsior College, an accredited, private, nonprofit institution that focuses on the needs of working adults. Excelsior’s bachelor’s degrees in accounting and business are recognized by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education.
