Past and present Auburn city firefighters gathered Friday to celebrate 158 years of the Hook & Ladder Company’s place in the community. The company, which is led by Auburn city firefighter John Williamson, honored Hall’s Towing of Auburn Friday as “Business of the Year” for their continued help to the city’s fire department. Williamson said towing company owners Ken and Kenny Hall donate cars for firefighters to use for training and provide free lockout services to the department. “They always give us what we need,” Williamson said. “We want to say thanks to them and their employees.” On Friday, Ken Hall said his company donates to help the community and help firefighter training. “As long as I’ve lived in Auburn, they’ve always been there to help us, “ Ken Hall said. “So we’ll do anything we can to help them out.” The event, which was held at the Martin Park Fire Station in Downtown Auburn, included a dinner for about 100 people prepared by Alex Dileo, Bill Brock-Jones, Steve Tutt, and John Bailey. Williamson said the annual event is good for camaraderie and to look back on how the company has helped residents. “It’s 158 years of celebrating the Auburn Hook & Ladder’s commitment to the community,” Williamson said. “It’s about us dedicating our time to the community.” ~ Jenifer Gee
