On Sept. 30 residents have a chance to support Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital. The Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital Foundation is hosting a sponsor party for past and new sponsors of its annual upcoming Faith and Fantasy Gala from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at Merv Hall’s No. 51 hangar at the Auburn Airport. This year the gala is scheduled for Nov. 13. Proceeds from the ball go directly toward work in the hospital, said Mindy Danovaro, executive director of the foundation. “The money from Faith and Fantasy has truly made a difference,” Danovaro said. “This year and last year the funds were used for our room remodel and privatization and operating room remodel project.” Danovaro said the hospital still needs $300,000 to complete the project. Last year the event raised $82,000 for the hospital, Danovaro said. The Faith and Fantasy Gala has been an annual Auburn event since 1979, Danovaro said. Danovaro said the sponsor party on Sept. 30 gives the foundation a chance to thank those who sponsor Faith and Fantasy as well as encourage new sponsors. “We are very blessed,” Danovaro said. “We have an unbelievably generous, kind community that really helps all the nonprofits, and we are really thankful to our sponsors and we want to honor them with this party.” Those interested in sponsoring the gala in November can contact Danovaro at (530) 888-4559. Sponsorships range from $500 for two tickets and sponsorship recognition to $7,500 for a table fitting eight, event signage, pre-event advertising and acknowledgment from the event podium. Sponsors will get a glimpse of what to expect at the gala at the sponsor party, Danovaro said. “We are going to have a swing dancing demonstration,” she said. “We will have swing dancing lessons. We will have some items on hand that will be auctioned at the gala.” Individuals who don’t want to buy sponsorship packages can also buy tickets for the November gala. Tickets are $150 each. At the gala, sponsors and guests can participate in a silent auction, live auction, a raffle for a trip for two to the Canary Islands, a cocktail hour, dinner and dancing, according to Steve Galyardt, chairman of the ball. “It sizzles it’s so fun,” Galyardt said. Some of the auction items include a statue by Auburn artist Douglas Van Howd, jewelry from Roper’s Jewelers and a whitewater rafting trip through Sierra Whitewater. Galyardt said he is looking forward to the sponsor party because he can practice his swing dancing before the gala. The band Moonlight Swing is volunteering to play at this year’s ball. “Every year the theme changes, and we were looking for something very classy and upbeat,” Danovaro said. “Swing music is very cheerful, and I think it would set a very good mood and a very good tone for the event.” Galyardt said the main goal of the gala is to continue to support the hospital. “We are very lucky for a town our size to have a hospital with world-class medical care,” Galyardt said. “The bottom line is that we keep this hospital alive, well and healthy to help our family and friends.” Reach Bridget Jones at
