Inequity gets driver’s goat

Mr. Chris Carmichael: In response to your claim that bicyclists have an equal right to the road (Reader Input, June 28): Last October I sent a check to the DMV in the amount of $758 for the “privilege” of driving my car on the road. Every five years I send a check to the DMV to renew my driver’s license for the “privilege” of driving my car on the road. If I break any of the rules of the road, I will be writing a check for the “privilege” to continue driving my car on the road. This list can go on. I am not against bicycles using the road. I am appalled at the inequity of use tax, and the constant screaming by the bike riders about their “right” to use all roads regardless of the safety factors involved. Some roads are just unsafe for bikes to be on. Chuck Mortensen, Colfax
