This is about the failure to pass Measure L and about all the articles asking people to donate money to the schools (Journal, Nov. 18). What about trying American ingenuity, creative thinking? Get kids, parents, teachers, administration and the community to put on their thinking caps, roll up their sleeves and try: bake sales, car washes, walk-a-thons, book sales, family fun night, talent show, etc. I am sure each school (each classroom) can be innovative, creative. Isn’t that what we are trying (or should be trying) to teach our kids? Let’s see what you (we) are willing to do to solve the situation you (we) are in! A good dose of American ingenuity could help us all right now. Ellen Stephens, Auburn
