Janitorial jobs should be filled by Auburn residents

-A +A
Why did several of our Auburn residents working in janitorial and maintenance for the city, and one local business owner who also provided janitorial for the public restrooms (employing other local residents) and other (services) for Auburn, lose their jobs only to have city officials hire a firm from Sacramento to come in to do those exact jobs? I don’t get it. It needs to be done, so pay someone from out of town, who you have to retrain to do it? And then let’s spend millions to make the streets of Auburn look prettier — and pay a Sacramento-based company to keep them pretty, all while putting our fellow neighbors out of jobs. Hmmm. Comments anyone? Kathy Partak Auburn
