Billy Janniro put it together again at Fast Fridays Motorcycle Speedway Friday night at the Gold Country Fairgrounds track in one of the fastest nights of racing in recent memory. Janniro was happy to spend his first hours as a married man on a speedway motorcycle doing what he loves. Earlier in the day Janniro was married, and with his wife watching, spent part of his wedding night tearing up the track. “Dave Joiner did an awesome job on the track,” Janniro said. “It’s set up just the way I like it, and you can tell the fans liked it as well. The crowd really loved the action tonight.” Pitted against three Fast Fridays veterans, Janniro found himself drawing lane four against the wall for the scratch main event. Lined up next to him were Tommy Hedden in lane three, Charlie Venegas in lane two and Auburn’s Bart Bast in the inside lane. Getting a good start, Janniro worked his way to the lead and with sparks flying off his hot shoe led all the way to the finish line. Bast gave him a run for his money, but Janniro worked the middle and outside of the track and Bast just couldn’t find a way to get past him. The win gave Janniro four scratch main event victories in a row at Fast Fridays. Bast finished second, Venegas was third and Hedden fourth. The handicap main event was another very exciting race and for the first time this season Janniro came close to capping the night with wins in both main events. Janniro was squeezing every bit of power out of his bike and worked his way from the 60-yard line into second place. A collision in lap three between Bryan Yarrow and Janniro, with both riders going down, caused a staggered restart with Janniro lined up last by referee Dane Besneatte. Marcucci was first, Yarrow second, Hedden third, Bast fourth, Ingalls fifth and Janniro just behind him. Again powering the outside of the track, and with just two laps left in the race Janniro passed everyone on the outside and put himself in a serious charge at Yarrow. Yarrow held on to pick up the win in the handicap main event. Janniro had to settle for second, and Hedden was third. Tori Hubbert, finding her way to the winner’s podium for the first time this season, won the Division II main event. Cody Ciciarelli won the Division I youth main event and Billy Vaughn won the Division III main event. Always a crowd favorite, sidecar racing returned to Fast Fridays with exciting action as four teams gave it their all. The team of Joe Jones and Jimmy Olsen picked up the main event win on their third visit to the track this season. Jones was on crutches after he was injured in a sidecar crash on June 13 racing in Southern California.
