Lowell Jarvis, who has represented the Auburn area on the Placer County Water Agency board, will take his turn as chairman in 2011. In line for the post after serving as vice-chairman this year, Jarvis was the board’s choice Monday in a vote by fellow supervisors. An Ophir resident, Jarvis represents District 3, which includes Auburn, Ophir, Loomis, Penryn, Newcastle and part of Rocklin. District 4 Director Mike Lee, who represents east Loomis, was elected as the board’s vice chairman for 2011. The election of officers followed an oath of office ceremony for recently re-elected directors Gray Allen of Roseville and Alex Ferreira of Lincoln, who were returned to office this year for new four-year terms. Jarvis cited several important milestones during Ferreira’s year at the helm of the board, including the recent submittal to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission of a draft license application to renew the agency’s Middle Fork American River Hydroelectric Project. – Gus Thomson
