Journal humor well-honed

I enjoyed the letter from Dale Smith: “Crisis caused by intellectuals” (Reader Input, Oct. 19) in which we learn that Edward R. Morrow and John Dewey were responsible for importing Marxist and Leninist doctrine into American education and media. What a hoot! It was a nice touch to run that letter on the same page with Kathleen Parker’s column, “Let the little dogs yap, Mr. President” wherein she advises Obama to “trust that the people who put you in office can tell the clowns from the ringleaders” – this from a nationally syndicated right-of-center columnist. It’s good to see that your editorial staff still has a keen sense of irony, not to mention humor. Ralph Petri, Auburn
