Junior Midgets get defensive to remain perfect

The Placer Junior Hillmen stumbled against four of five powerful Nevada Union squads at Le Febvre Stadium over the weekend. The Placer Junior Midgets were the lone bright spot for the second straight week, silencing the Junior Miners 8-0 to improve to 3-0. Tyler Gums caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Zach Madrigal in the final minute of the first half and Frankie O’Neal completed the two-point conversion. Placer’s defense made the score stand through the second half. The Junior Midgets have surrendered only two touchdowns in three games. In other action, the Placer Midgets fell 20-12 and the Pee-Wees lost 26-6. The Miners held off Placer for a 20-19 overtime win in Junior Pee-Wee action and blanked the Mighty Mites 33-0. The Junior Hillmen will take on the Ponderosa Junior Bruins this weekend.
