The Placer Junior Hillmen dropped all but one of their five games to host Foothill on Sunday in their first action since a Labor Day weekend bye. The Placer Junior Midgets crushed the Junior Mustangs 48-6 to improve to 2-0. Ryan Gray carried nine times for 50 yards and three touchdowns. Dustin Edward ran 10 times for 55 yards and scored twice, and Tyler Gums also rushed for a touchdown. Frankie O’Neal had seven carries for a game-high 115 yards and also converted all six extra-point kicks. Andrew Peek, Juan Medrano and Robbie Queen led another impressive defensive effort for the Junior Midgets. Placer dropped the Pee Wee game 24-0 despite running back Cory Yunk’s strong ground game. Marcus Quintanilla and Jarred Halbert anchored a defense that held the Mustangs scoreless in the first and fourth quarters. Gavin Ware intercepted a pass and Taylor Levesque had a sack. The Placer Midgets fell 22-0, while the Junior Pee-Wees lost 42-0 and the Mighty Mites were shut out 33-0. The Junior Hillmen will look to bounce back Saturday when they host the Nevada Union Junior Miners at Le Febvre Stadium.
