Avi Hammel backed up for a running start and then aimed the soccer ball at a small hole on a wall.

He missed. But he kept trying as his dad Glenn Hammel watched. The pair had come from Sacramento for the "Move it Movement" event on Friday at Golfland Sunsplash in Roseville.

The 17-city tour sponsored by the Cartoon Network offers youth ages 6 to 14 a chance to engage in some outdoor fun, including a skate park challenge, soccer shootout, basketball hoop challenge, driving range and more.

The tour is in partnership with the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition and in support of First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move initiative. The goal is to help kids get active and combat childhood obesity.

"It's ironic that a TV station is pushing the idea of children not becoming couch potatoes," Hammel said. "With that said, I think it's a really fantastic thing."
