Knox, Stufflebean power Placer

The Placer High softball team got a pitching gem from Jenna Knox and a two-run homer from Brooke Stufflebean to break through for its first Pioneer Valley League victory Thursday.
Knox pitched seven inning and didn’t give up an earned run, while Stufflebean hit a shot to straightaway center field to break open a tight game in the fifth inning. Knox struck out six and gave up just two hits for the Hillgals (1-5 PVL, 7-10 overall).
Knox was also a force at the plate, going 3-for-3 with one run scored. Alyssa Chapman was 2-for-2 while Kacy Romero had a hit, a run and an RBI. Kaley Gaffney and Taylor Graham added hits for Placer.

Foresthill 9, Vacaville Christian 4 at Foresthill — The Wildfires passed a big test in the Central Valley Christian League, knocking off the talented Falcons.
Freshman Sadie Stroup pitched seven outstanding innings, giving up four hits and striking out seven as Foresthill improved to 7-0 in the CVCL.
Bailey McDonald had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Corinne Nevares was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and Bonnie Mogila was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
