A season-closing win at Woodcreek Tuesday night could propel the Del Oro Lady Eagles’ volleyball squad into a top seed for the upcoming CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Div. II playoffs. Del Oro, 17-10 overall on the season and 6-3 in Sierra Foothill League matches, split a pair of league contests last week. Del Oro dropped a close five-set decision at Granite Bay, but rebounded to trim Roseville in four games. Hopefully, a strong SFL finish with a win at Woodcreek would launch Del Oro into a high-seed for the post season, which begins next Tuesday at home sites. Second round and semi-final round action will continue on Nov. 10 and Nov. 15, also at home locations, before the Div. II finals are played Nov. 17, at UC Davis. In their match with Roseville, the Lady Eagles followed a nice all-around effort from Stephanie Solich to stymie the Tigers. Solich led the way for DO with 13 kills, 11 digs and seven aces to pace a 25-15, 25-20, 20-25, 26-24 road win. Morgan Lees added 11 kills and four aces, while Tatum Jungsten tossed in seven kills and four blocks for the winners. Megan Hentschke added 22 digs and Amy Heyn dished out 34 assists. Del Oro’s loss at Granite Bay came via a wild 15-25, 15-25, 25-20, 25-23, 17-15 score. Jungsten led Del Oro with 10 kills, nine blocks and a perfect 20-for-20 performance at the service line. Lees, meanwhile, added 12 kills and 10 digs, while Amy Heyn passed out 33 assists and added 17 digs.
