Lane sentencing postponed until January

An Auburn man who pleaded no contest to assault with a deadly weapon will await sentencing until the end of January. Michael Lane made a brief appearance in an Auburn courtroom Thursday to hear that his sentencing will be postponed until Jan. 21. On Nov. 6, Lane pleaded no contest to assault with a deadly weapon and admitted to an allegation of causing great bodily harm. In March, Lane was charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing 21-year-old Britton Reed multiple times early in the morning of March 17. The altercation took place in a parking lot next to Bob and Betty’s 160 Club on Cleveland Street in Auburn. Lane will face a maximum prison term of seven years. Lane remains in custody at Placer County Jail. He will appear in Placer County Superior court at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 21 in Dept. 32 at the Bill Santucci Justice Center in Roseville. -Jenifer Gee
