It was a hard fought game, but the Placer freshmen boys basketball team fell to the Fighting Zebras, 47-37, on Wednesday night in Lincoln.
Placer (11-5, 2-2 Pioneer Valley League) led by one, 15-14, after the first quarter.
But the Hillmen went “ice cold” in the second, making only 1 of 15 shots from the field and went into halftime trailing 27-18.
Taylor Levesque, who scored nine of Placer’s 11 third-quarter points  and pulled down eight rebounds, helped Placer get within three points heading in to the fourth quarter, 32-29.
But turnovers hurt Placer’s chances of a comeback. Levesque finished with a game-high 22 points, followed by Ryan Jenkins (5), Marcus Ante (5), Austen Lipsmeyer (3), Josh Matthews (2).
