Two Lincoln residents involved in an alleged attempted robbery and drug deal in which a man was shot are facing their next court date. Placer County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Ruthie Ann Barnes, 20, and her half-brother Zane Aaron Davis, 28, Nov. 29 in Auburn’s Super 8 Motel. Barnes told deputies she met her ex-boyfriend Andres Lopez, 36, at the Super 8 motel in Auburn to buy drugs from him. Barnes said she called Davis, because she was worried Lopez wouldn’t let her leave. When Davis arrived he allegedly fired four shots, which injured Lopez. Lopez was treated at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital and released after being arrested on an unrelated warrant. Barnes and Davis are scheduled for an early status conference at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 3 in Auburn’s Placer County Jail courtroom. Barnes and Davis were booked into Placer County jail on charges of attempted robbery, conspiracy and assault with a firearm. Barnes was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, hypodermic needles and brass knuckles. The Sheriff’s Office also charged her with bringing drugs into the jail. All charges are felonies except the misdemeanor charge of possessing hypodermic needles. Barnes is being held in Placer County jail on a $100,000 bail, and Davis is being held on a $110,000 bail. ~Bridget Jones
