The basketball season didn’t exactly go according to plan for Placer High senior Kayla Reeves. Despite her best efforts, the Lady Hillmen struggled to a 7-17 record and missed the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs for a second straight season. But Reeves will get one last chance to show her stuff in a Placer uniform on Saturday at the annual Optimist All-Star Basketball Game at Center High School. Reeves led the Lady Hillmen in points (13.8 per game) assists (2.9) and steals (3.7) last season. The slick guard also hit 58 shots from 3-point land. She’ll join the North team for Saturday’s game, which will precede the boys game. Three boys from the Auburn area will join the North squad, which will face a team made up of players from the southern Sacramento area. Del Oro’s Spencer Butterfield, Colfax’s Ryan Salmonson and Forest Lake Christian’s Josh Ritchart will play Saturday at Center.
