Re: “Palm Avenue project set to provide safe route to school,” (Journal, Oct. 12). I don’t really think that it’s necessary to widen streets or add sidewalks. I think that it’s fine how it is. I think it would be a waste of money considering not a lot of kids walk on that road. The only thing that I would say is a problem is that there are kids who think that it’s OK to run in front of cars. Why not use crosswalks? That’s what they’re there for, to walk across, not run in front of cars. The other problem is that kids run down a hill by E.V. Cain and cars drive by. They don’t look or wait for a car to drive by, or see if one is coming. I would think they would realize not to run down that hill after already getting talked to by a teacher. So don’t waste your money on something we don’t really need. Please, just tell your kids to try to be safer while going to school. HAILEY DORN, student, Auburn
