Man arrested after seen looking into vehicles

King did not have prescription for methadone, police say

An Auburn man was arrested after he was reportedly looking into vehicles in a shopping center parking lot.

Auburn Police were “waved down” at about 2:03 p.m. Monday in the Auburn Town Center parking lot, located off Elm Avenue, in regard to a “suspicious person” looking into vehicles in the lot.

Police approached Tommy King, 29, who appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, according to Auburn Police Sgt. Victor Pecoraro in a press release issued Tuesday evening.

Police found King with methadone but no prescription for the prescribed mediation, Pecoraro said. King was arrested without incident and booked into Placer County Jail.

He remained jailed on Tuesday with $10,000 bail.
