Man arrested for sexting Auburn teen scheduled to be sentenced

A man arrested for sending sexual text messages to a 16-year-old Auburn boy is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday. Charles Wayne Burghy, 44, of Pine Grove, was arrested on Aug. 13 after a sting conducted by the Auburn Police Department. Burghy was originally arrested on multiple felony charges. However, he pleaded no contest Wednesday to a misdemeanor of exhibiting harmful matter to a minor, according to Art Campos, spokesman for the Placer County District Attorney’s Office. According to Auburn Police, text messages to the boy included naked photographs of Burghy. Burghy is scheduled to be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Auburn’s Placer County Jail courtroom. Burghy is being held in Placer County Jail and is ineligible for bail. ~Bridget Jones
