An Auburn man was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing a bicycle by using a stolen license and credit card.

On March 2, 32-year-old Christopher David Waldschmitt went to the Bicycle Emporium in the 400 block of Grass Valley Highway and allegedly used a stolen driver’s license and credit card to purchase a bicycle, according to a press release issued Friday morning by the Auburn Police Department.

Waldschmitt allegedly gave the license and credit card as collateral to test ride the bicycle. He then  took the bike and never returned, the release stated.

Auburn officers arrested Waldschmitt on March 7 at his residence for burglary, grand theft and unauthorized use of an access card. At the time of his arrest, Waldschmitt allegedly had a small amount of methamphetamine in his possession, police say. He also had several other outstanding felony warrants when he was arrested.

Waldschmitt was booked into Placer County Jail and is currently being held without bail
