A young male was hit and killed by a train on the railroad tracks at the Nevada Street/Blocker Drive station in Auburn Sunday night. The accident occurred about 9:20 p.m. with Auburn police and fire departments and Cal Fire responding to the scene, according to initial emergency reports. A call to bring in a CALSTAR air ambulance was subsequently cancelled. Emergency responders left the scene about 20 minutes later. Auburn Police officers remained on site and were interviewing the Union Pacific train engineer as of press time, according to Auburn Police dispatch. Union Pacific investigators were also on their way to the scene. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
