A 20-year-old Roseville man was arrested Friday after allegedly attempting to hold up a Roseville bank with a pellet gun. Roseville Police Department officers responded to a reported robbery in progress at Bank of America, 4012 Foothills Blvd. just before 6 p.m. The suspect entered the bank, ordered customers to leave, pointed a handgun at bank employees and demanded money from the cash drawers and the vault, according to a news release. The first Roseville Police officer on the scene looked through the windows of the bank and saw the robber holding a handgun, according to the news release. “The guy went into the bank and displayed a weapon,” Roseville Police Officer Phil Mancini said Saturday. “Officers arrived in seconds. Once (the suspect) realized police were on scene, he put down the weapon and gave up.” The “handgun” used in the robbery was found to be a pellet gun designed as a replica of a Colt pistol. The suspect, John Lubeck, was arrested without incident on suspicion of robbery. He is being held in the Placer County Jail on $50,000 bail. No money was taken and no one reported being injured during the robbery. ~ Toby Lewis
