Master Gardeners’ Mother’s Day tour to showcase seven landscapesBy: Journal Staff Report
The University of California Co-operative Extension’s Placer County Master Gardeners are hosting their 28th Annual Mother’s Day Garden Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 12. Seven picturesque gardens in Rocklin, Roseville, Granite Bay and Loomis will be featured this year.
The Eclectic Garden in Rocklin belongs to plant collectors and water use experts and offers a mix of flowers and edibles. The Romantic Garden in Roseville has a Mediterranean look, with lots of roses, a cypress shade garden, small water features and a central gathering area with olive trees.
The Edible & Ornamental Garden in Granite Bay features vegetables, fruit trees, blueberries and many perennials, annuals, shrubs and trees. The Woodland Garden in Granite Bay has small foot bridges over a dry stream bed. Flowering shrubs grow along pathways leading to a large outdoor entertaining area with huge palms.
The European Garden in Loomis has water features, water views, topiaries, potted fruit trees and garden rooms.
The Casual Garden in Loomis offers pathways with ornamental and fruit frees and plants. The Elegant Garden in Loomis has a mixture of varieties of foliage and garden art. Flowers grow in stacked stone raised planters. There are Japanese maples and many plants with contrasting shapes and textures.
Cost is $12 per person with children under 12 free. Tickets can be purchased at Eisley Nursery in Auburn, The Flower Farm in Loomis and Green Acres Nursery in Roseville.
